This breed comes in a broad variety of shapes
and colors like brown, gray, white, orange, blue, chocolate, and sable. But the
traditional British shorthair is covered in blur pelt. This breed has medium to
large size in height and has some health issues too.
Other Traits
The British shorthair makes affection but does
not like being carried. She is cushy felid. She will follow you to your home or
living place. She is not a lapping cat but she likes to play with people on the
sofa.
Temperament
Male cats of this breed are noisier and lack
discipline than the special female cats. According to age, British Shorthairs
become progressively like to sit. As the age of male cats increases, they
become gradually unruly and disobedient. They love to play and like to make

Appearance
The British Shorthair has a broad chest, strong
jaws, solid legs, and a brawny neck. This is easily recognizable because of his
rounded head and chubby cheeks. The dense coat of this breed has many colors
and shapes, but the blue-gray color of cats is called British blues and the
blue color is the most popular color of this British breed. The British
shorthair has a different colors of eyes like copper, orange-amber, green or
blue.

with a brush only once a week to maintain their coat clean and in good shape.
HEALTH
British Shorthair cats are prey to a condition
or disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which can be a reason for heart
failure. Although the condition is not curable, it can be treated with lifelong
medication.
Like all cats, British Shorthairs are sensitive
to bacterial and viral infections such as calicivirus, rabies, and
rhinotracheitis, which can be prevented by vaccination. But the cats of this
breed are large that can live up to 20 years.

HISTORY
The first theory is that British Shorthair cats
originated from the domestic cats of Rome and Egypt and were brought to Britain
by Roman legions when Rome invaded the islands more than 2000 years ago. The
British Shorthair probably dates back to the 1st century AD, making it one of
the oldest cat breeds in the world. These cats were imported by the Romans who
kept them to keep the camps free of snakes, rats, and insects.
After 1945, this breed was nearly nonextant,
but due to cross-breeding, this British breed was restored to new life and
vigor. After that, the association (ACA) accepted this breed, but there was not
accepted by some related associations like (TICA) until 1979. The breed is now
accepted by all associations that relate to cats.

$2400 as usual. In the UK, a kitten of this breed from a registered breeder can
cost from £ 1200 to £ 2000, but from an unregistered breeder can get from £ 300
to £ 800. In the United States, the price of this breed is quite expensive. It
can be between $800 and $2500. The expected price to pay is at least $1500 and
it depends upon the coat color of the cats and some other factors too.
